Halal catering for weddings and Eid: how to plan

What to decide in advance, what to ask the caterer about halal, and how to reach several restaurants with one request.

A wedding, an Eid party or a company event with halal food takes a little planning. This is what to have ready before you get in touch, and what to ask whoever cooks the food.

Decide this first

  • Date and number of guests. Many caterers have a minimum and maximum, and popular dates such as Eid are booked early.
  • How the food is served: buffet, plated or ready portions.
  • Special diets: vegetarian, allergies and children's portions.
  • A rough budget per person, so the offers are realistic.

Ask the caterer about halal

  • Is all the food halal, or only the meat?
  • Who supplies the meat, and is there a certificate?
  • Is the food cooked in a kitchen that also handles other meat, and how is it kept apart?
  • Is alcohol used in any dish or sauce?

Check whether the restaurant is Verified by YaHalalo. If so, we have reviewed its evidence, but verification is not a religious certification. How verification works.

One request to several restaurants

With YaHalalo's catering request you fill in the city, occasion, date and number of guests once. The request goes to up to five restaurants in the city that take catering, and they contact you directly. Your contact details are shared only with them and deleted after 180 days. YaHalalo charges nothing for the request and does not cook any food itself.
