What "Verified by YaHalalo" means

What we check before a place gets the label, what the label does not mean, and why it can never be bought.

YaHalalo 5 October 2026 1 min read

Most places on YaHalalo come from open sources, and nobody has checked their halal details. A few carry the label Verified by YaHalalo. This is how it works, and how to read it.

What we check

The restaurant sends us evidence, and we go through it before we add the label:

  • Suppliers: where the meat and other halal products come from, and statements or certificates for them.
  • Ingredients: that what is sold as halal contains nothing that contradicts it.
  • The kitchen: how halal products are handled, stored and kept apart.
  • Alcohol: whether alcohol is served or used in the food.

The restaurant's page shows which of these checks were made, and when.

What the label does not mean

Verification is not a religious certification, and we are not a certification body. The label means we saw evidence supporting the restaurant's halal details when we reviewed it. Things can change after that, such as a supplier or the menu. If you are unsure, you can always ask the restaurant.

Free, and never for sale

Verification costs nothing. No plan, package or payment can give the label, change a status or affect our review. Paid placements are marked "Sponsored" and never change the order of a list. How ranking works.

If something is wrong

Has a verified place changed supplier, started serving something that does not match the label, or closed? Report it and we will look again. Do you run a restaurant and want to be verified? Apply for free.
